Martin has given me loads of time and energy in helping the site to become more friendly to all browsers.  Many thanks Martin.

Today I implemented a few changes on the site; do tell if they break your browsing experience.  The site does not claim to display identically in all browsers, but I believe it displays reasonably in both IE7 and FireFox 2 - the ones I have checked it with.  If you choose to bump up the font sizes then you risk breaking the page design although the ones I checked seemed fairly resiliant.

Todays changes are:

  • Inclusion of a DOCTYPE to encourage the browser in to standards compliant mode
  • Use of the Verdana font as the first choice for text thoughout the site
  • Use of standards based font sizes (small/large etc rathe then specified point sizes.
  • Support for Heading 1 to 6 (choosable in the Format pull down).  Note they do not render in the editor as they will on the page.  I think that can be fixed but will have to wait for a later update.
  • I already know about the change that removes the table lines in the Forums front page.

Happy browsing!

Cheers,
- Richard
